Powerpoint: Infraestrutura hidroelétrica em Portugal e o território como projeto

Abstract

Na presente investigação aborda-se a questão política subjacente à justificação, conceção e construção de uma seleção de casos de infraestrutura hidroelétrica portuguesa entre os anos 1943 e 1975, que nos ajudarão a compreender a trajetória da hidroeletricidade em Portugal e como esta fundiu um projeto político com um projeto territorial. Através da análise histórica da tomada de decisões sobre a programação do território e como as barragens constituem uma representação física dessas decisões, a investigação examinará as razões pelas quais as infraestruturas hidroelétricas foram construídas em determinados períodos de tempo, quais foram os fatores decisivos na implementação da hidroeletricidade e qual a dimensão ideológica entre a ditadura de Salazar e as infraestruturas nesse processo. No fim, o estudo defende a partir de uma seleção de casos da rede hidroelétrica nacional, a estreita relação entre poder, ideologia e energia, que nos permita avaliar porque é que a capacidade técnica, a economia, a política, entre outros fatores, convergiram de forma tão sincronizada na construção das grandes barragens em Portugal num determinado momento e de que forma isto poderá dar-nos luz sobre o nosso presente e futuro em matéria energética.

This research examines the political dimensions underlying the justification, design, and construction of selected Portuguese hydroelectric infrastructure projects between 1943 and 1975. These cases will help us understand the trajectory of hydroelectricity in Portugal and how it merged a political vision with territorial planning. By analyzing historical decision-making in territorial planning and how dams serve as physical representations of these choices, this study will explore the reasons behind the construction of hydroelectric infrastructure in specific periods, the key fators influencing its implementation, and the ideological connection between Salazar's dictatorship and these projects. Ultimately, through a selection of cases from the national hydroelectric network, the study argues for the close relationship between power, ideology, and energy. It seeks to assess why technical capacity, economic fators, and political interests, among others, converged so precisely in the construction of large dams in Portugal at a specific moment and how this understanding might shed light on present and future energy challenges.
