Quem estuda o quê em Portugal. Uma análise da produção sociológica portuguesa

Abstract

Esta pesquisa procura perceber se existem diferenças de género na produção sociológica portuguesa. Será que homens e mulheres se interessam pelas mesmas dimensões do social e elegem para objectos de investigação os mesmos temas e problemas sociológicos, ou poder-se-á falar de áreas de investigação sociológica tendencialmente de domínio feminino ou masculino? Através da análise das participações femininas e masculinas nas comunicações dos cinco primeiros congressos de sociologia e dos campos temáticos de 359 teses de sociologia realizadas e reconhecidas por universidades portuguesas, pretende-se responder a estas questões, mas sobretudo trazer a debate a questão da diferenciação de género na produção sociológica portuguesa.

This research attempts to understand if there are gender related differences in the sociological work in Portugal. Are women and men interested in the same social dimensions and choose the same sociological themes and problems for investigation objects or are there areas preferentially chosen by men or women? Through the analysis of the male and female communications presented on five national sociology congresses and of the thematic fields of 359 doctoral theses in sociology, realized and accepted by Portuguese Universities, I intend not only to answer these questions but mainly to bring the gender differentiation in Portuguese sociological work to the front stage.
