Uma cultura de resistência. A Revolta dos Marinheiros de 1936

Abstract

Neste artigo, a Revolta dos Marinheiros de 1936 é perspectivada no quadro das oposições ao Estado Novo, numa escala micro, atendendo às subjectividades envolvidas, para o que se procurou recuperar a voz dos marinheiros. Para tal, importou reconstituir a revolta, identificando os seus actores, detectando os seus objectivos, caracterizando o seu percurso, assim como analisar a relação do levantamento com a Guerra Civil de Espanha e o papel nele desempenhado pelo Partido Comunista Português. Numa reinterpretação, defende-se que o conceito-chave para entender a revolta é o de “cultura de resistência”.

This article examines the 1936 Revolt of the Sailors in the context of the opposition to the Estado Novo, at a micro level, taking into account the subjectivities involved for which the sailors’ voice was recovered. To this end, it was important to reconstruct the revolt, identify its actors, recognize its objectives, characterize its course, and analyze the relationship between the uprising and the Spanish Civil War, as well as the role of the Portuguese Communist Party. The article argues that the key concept to understanding the revolt is the "culture of resistance".
