“Uma mudança de paradigma”: o Instituto Cultural Romeno de 2005 a 2012

Abstract

A história do Instituto Cultural Romeno seguiu em linhas grandes, o molde definido por Paschalidis (2009). De organização coletiva a instrumento propagandístico do regime comunista, a instituição chega, a partir de 2005, a manifestar-se num caminho entre diplomacia cultural e relações culturais. Num estado com políticas culturais centralizadas, as suas boas práticas seguiram no sentido de uma política de arm´s lenght, que, por si só, era chamada a restabelecer a imagem da jovem democracia de um país ex-comunista no palco cultural internacional.

The history of the Romanian Cultural Institute followed in broad lines, the framework set by Paschalidis (2009). From collective organization to propaganda tool of the Communist regime, the institution comes from 2005 to manifest itself on a path of cultural diplomacy and cultural relations. In a state with centralized cultural policies, its best practices manifests towards an arm's lenght policy, which was called to restore the image of the new democracy from an excommunist country at the international cultural stage.
