Após uma breve genealogia da trajectória das lutas sociais e políticas em Angola desde a independência, focamo-nos nas dinâmicas da sociedade civil e do activismo político e de direitos humanos no período pós-2017, examinando as continuidades e rupturas na relação entre Estado e cidadania. O capítulo explora como as demandas por reformas políticas, transparência e justiça social foram articuladas por movimentos sociais e activistas, bem como as respostas do Estado a essas pressões, incluindo a repressão e a cooptação de vozes dissidentes. S. Resumo: Former mining sites are increasingly tasked with mediating extractive pasts while engaging publics with contemporary sustainability challenges. Examining the case of the Lousal Cultural Complex – in Portugal's Alentejo, 140 km south of Lisbon – this paper highlights tensions in heritage interpretation, science communication, social engagement, and environmental responsibility. Drawing on documentary analysis, site visit, exhibition analysis, and interviews with institutional actors, the study assesses how mining history, environmental impacts and rehabilitation, and energy transition are communicated within the complex, across its permanent exhibitions and mediated activities. The Lousal Cultural Complex is a case that exemplifies both the possibilities of the integration of heritage reuse and science communication, and the curatorial challenges of balancing immersive and memorable engagement with the communication of just and transformative energy transitions. While the complex demonstrates substantial technical, cultural, scientific, and educational achievements, the findings reveal a marked narrative asymmetry: Narratives of extractive dependency and technological progress are embedded in permanent and interactive exhibitions, while social histories, environmental degradation, remediation limits, and post-extractive futures are communicated through incidental verbal interpretation, temporary exhibitions, or event-based programming. As a result, the potential to foster environmental citizenship is constrained, although possible to overcome by curatorial changes that engage publics with social histories and equip them with critical perspectives on consumption, circular economy, and mineral futures to promote just and green transitions. S.; Garrido, Pía Rodríguez; Pintassilgo, Sónia; Alarcão, Violeta Resumo: Este trabalho propõe uma reflexão sobre como algumas práticas de comunicação na rede social online Instagram divulgam e significam o preservativo masculino/externo em Portugal. Para isto, foram selecionadas publicações desenvolvidas por três atores distintos: o Serviço Nacional de Saúde e as marcas comerciais Control e Durex. Utilizou-se uma combinação de procedimentos metodológicos que conjuntam (i) recolha de dados a partir de palavras-chave com o suporte dos softwares SentiOne e Meta Content Library; (ii) uma etapa descritiva do conjunto geral de publicações encontrado; e (iii) análise do discurso de um conjunto de 27 publicações feitas entre 2021 e 2024 para debater os sentidos que cada interveniente atribui ao objeto preservativo. Os resultados aqui apresentados são observações iniciais que apontam uma prioridade para a ênfase em sentidos preventivos de gravidezes e infeções sexualmente transmissíveis (ISTs) por parte do Serviço Nacional de Saúde (SNS); humor e prazer sexual por parte da Control; e um misto de prazer e promoção da saúde por parte da Durex. Resumo: This article introduces the thematic section Heritage and Religion in South Asia and its Diasporas and proposes a new framework for analysing the relationship between religion and heritage. While previous scholarship has often approached this nexus in terms of similarities or conflicts, the article argues that global South Asia offers a productive ground for rethinking the complex ways in which religion and heritage interact and shape each other both discursively and materially. Drawing on contributions from across the thematic section, it moves beyond the established distinction between the 'heritagisation of the sacred' and the 'sacralisation of heritage'. Instead, it proposes a new analytical framework centred on friction, entanglement and reconfiguration—three distinct but overlapping modalities through which religion and heritage interact on the ground. Through examples from South Asia and its diasporas, the article shows how heritage discourses are appropriated, contested and reworked by diverse actors, from state institutions to local religious communities and migrants. By foregrounding uneven power relations and transnational circulations of beliefs, memories and objects, it positions South Asia as a generative site for theorising the dynamic cross-fertilisation of religion and heritage in contemporary societies.
