De Paris a Jeta, de Jeta a Paris. Percursos migratórios e ritos terapêuticos entre França e a Guiné-Bissau

Abstract

Os problemas somáticos e/ou de desadaptação com que se confrontam muitos emigrantes guineenses, originários de zonas rurais, durante os seus percursos migratórios na Europa, encontram geralmente resposta junto dos terapeutas africanos, sendo equacionados segundo parâmetros culturais que os enquadram numa má relação cosmogónica (de obrigações não cumpridas para com espíritos diversos). Os percursos terapêuticos implicam recorrentemente o regresso temporário aos altares das comunidades de origem. Os pacientes são confrontados com as necessidades dos dois universos culturais onde se moldam as suas existências, com duas formas diferentes de controlar o tempo e o corpo, com discursos divergentes sobre a doença e a terapia. Estas questões são analisadas neste artigo a partir do percurso biográfico de Sábor, emigrante em França e originário da ilha de Jeta (Guiné-Bissau).

During their European migrations, many Guineane emigrants of rural origins, experience problems of a somatic nature and/or having to do with adaptation. According to their cosmological cultural parameters, these problems are equated with a failure to appease a number of specific spirits, their solutions are, therefore, sought for in consultation with African healers. The therapeutic course prescribed here implies recurrent temporary returns to the altars of ones community of origin. The patients are confronted by the necessities of the two cultural universes that mold their existence and with two different forms of controlling time and the body, as well as with divergent discourses on illness and cure. In this article, the biography of Sábor, an emigrant in France, originally from the island of Jeta, Guinea-Bissau is used for analyzing these issues.
