Diferentes olhares sobre um ponto comum: Ser-se professor

Abstract

O presente trabalho incide sobre os percursos pessoais e profissionais de professores e das percepções que estes têm acerca da sua profissão, das suas atitudes (pessoais e profissionais), da relação que estabelecem com os seus alunos (dentro e fora da sala de aula), e na influência que o meio social pode exercer em todos estes aspectos. Como se trata de um estudo exploratório, realizaram-se entrevistas a seis professoras (cuja carreira se situa entre os dez e os vinte e cinco anos) da disciplina de Língua Portuguesa, em escolas do Alentejo. Recorreu-se, também, à observação de aulas no intuito de poder captar os modos de interacção entre professor-aluno assim como encontrar pontos comuns, ou não, entre as seis histórias. O resultado da análise resultou nalguns pontos de convergência nomeadamente o percurso que fizeram, o momento que atravessam profissionalmente (onde impera a desmotivação como consequência das inúmeras mudanças que o sistema educativo atravessa e, também, da mutação do papel do aluno e famílias), e o modo como vêem a sua função e qual deveria ser a função de um aluno. Os olhares divergem quando a análise entra no campo pessoal, destaque para o facto de terem ou não família constituída, e nos laços que criam (ou não) com os seus alunos, sobretudo, dentro e fora da sala de aula.

This paper focuses on the personal and professional courses for teachers and the perceptions they have about their profession, their own actions (personal and professional), the relationship they establish with their students (within and outside the classroom), and the influence that the social environment can have on all these aspects. As this is an exploratory study, interviews were conducted six teachers (whose career is between ten and twenty-five years) the discipline of English in schools in the Alentejo, is also resorted to observing lessons in order can capture the modes of interaction between teacher and student and also to find common ground or not, among the six stories. The result of the analysis resulted in some points of convergence, namely, the path they took the time to go through professionally (in the prevailing lack of motivation, a result of numerous changes that the education system through, and also the changing role of students and families), and how they see their role and what should be the role of a student. Looks differ when the analysis enters the field staff, especially the fact of whether or not family based, and the bonds that create (or not) with their students, especially within and outside the classroom.
